New group MD at TBWA\Group\Durban
Justin McCarthy, who initially joined TBWA\Group\Durban last year as a divisional MD, has been appointed group MD. The group consists of TBWA\Hunt\Lascaris, TBWA\TOO, Tequila\, Tequila\Motion, \Redsky, D\M\Y Connections Events and PR.
James Porter, executive chair of TBWA\Group\Durban, says, “Justin and I have worked together often over the years so I knew that he was an ideal candidate for the position. He has a strong management background and reputation and I have every confidence in him providing our longstanding and newer clients with excellent direction and advice.”
McCarthy comments, “Durban's advertising industry is sometimes viewed as the ‘poor cousin' in relation to Johannesburg and Cape Town, but I totally disagree. There is a lot of great home-grown talent here which, combined with the right self-belief, will raise the bar a good deal further. I am excited about the opportunity to build on outstanding existing client relationships, to work on constantly improving our offering and of course to grow new business.”
McCarthy has spent most of his advertising industry career in Johannesburg agencies including TBWA and has several years' international experience in the Middle East and UK.
