Eskom: Another big account win for Ogilvy & Mather R S-T & M
The task of positioning Eskom as the preeminent African energy and related services business of global stature rests in the hands of Ogilvy & Mather R S-T & M (O&M), following the awarding of the three year Eskom corporate advertising account to the Gauteng agency.
O&M will support the leading energy utility company's business strategy and its growth into Africa with an above-the-line corporate campaign, which is expected to break early in 2004 in South Africa and in key African countries through the Ogilvy Africa network.
Eskom Corporate Communications Manager, Zintle Filtane, says O&M's strong network into the rest of the African continent, their detailed strategy and creative concepts won the pitch for them. "O&M showed maturity and stability that would equip them to look after organisations that are in the league of Eskom, an electricity and energy company that is rated among the top seven, worldwide," says Filtane.
O&M Gauteng chairman, Nunu Ntshingila says the agency is delighted to be awarded the account for such a prestigious company. "We are honoured and look forward to stewarding the Eskom brand into Africa and into the future," she says.
Eskom joins other South African blue chip brands that are expanding north of our borders, such as Multichoice and SABMiller, which are already being marketed into Africa through the Ogilvy Africa network.
The Eskom account kicks in on 1 October 2003, simultaneously with the incorporation of HarrisonHuman into O&M Gauteng, which sees Gerry Human taking up the position of joint executive creative director.
