Early results suggest customers are embracing the proposition's value. More than 28,000 qualifying customers across the ecosystem have earned rewards through the Trio ecosystem, with benefits linked to the purchase of 1.87 million litres of fuel.
Customer engagement is also exceeding expectations, with spending across both Engen and Clicks well beyond the minimum qualifying requirements.
"In just two months, Trio has delivered tangible value where it matters most in customers’ everyday spending," says Tilene Narainan, Head of eBucks growth and partnerships at FNB, says,Tilene Narainan, head of eBucks growth and partnerships at FNB.
"Customers have already earned 34.6 million eBucks, which is over and above the customer benefit of over 300 000 tanks of fuel in the everyday programme over the past year, demonstrating the power of bringing banking, fuel and retail together in one connected rewards ecosystem.
"Trio is demonstrating what becomes possible when leading brands work together around a shared understanding of the customer."
Narainan adds, "It is encouraging that customers are not only meeting the qualifying criteria but significantly exceeding them. This tells us that when rewards are relevant, accessible and built around everyday behaviour, customers respond."
At Engen, FNB customers increased their 100% share of fuel spend by 2.59 percentage points in the first month, reflecting growing customer preference for Engen within the rewards ecosystem.

"The uptake and performance insights demonstrate the value customers see in the Trio partnership. The increase in customers choosing Engen for a greater share of their fuel spend highlights the strength of combining convenience, quality service and meaningful rewards," says Enoch Hermanus, retail general manager at Engen.
"As consumers continue to navigate financial pressures, partnerships between like-minded brands have an important role to play in helping customers unlock greater value from their everyday spending.
At Clicks, average customer spend exceeded qualifying thresholds by between 116% and 140% across all segments, with particularly strong performance among FNB Private Wealth customers.
Fionna Ronnie, Clicks Group Retail CMO, says, “The strong performance across all customer segments, particularly among Private Wealth customers, shows that the appeal of earning additional rewards extends across income groups and that the proposition has resonated with customers.”
"Consumers are increasingly seeking ways to maximise the value of every rand spent. Our partnership with FNB and Engen demonstrates how bringing together complementary brands can give customers more choice, more ways to earn rewards and greater value from their everyday spending."
The strong performance across both partners points to a broader shift in customer behaviour.
Rather than viewing banking, fuel and retail purchases in isolation, customers increasingly seek connected ecosystems that reward them across multiple aspects of their daily lives.
The early results suggest that the partnership campaign is meeting this need, encouraging deeper engagement while helping customers unlock greater value from spending they would be doing anyway.
"The momentum behind this partnership reflects the growing need for solutions that deliver meaningful value in customers' everyday lives," says Narainan.
As households continue to navigate financial pressures, Narainan says they are focused on helping customers stretch their budgets further through rewards that are simple, relevant and easy to access.
"The millions of eBucks earned, and fuel savings already unlocked, demonstrate the real impact that can be achieved when trusted brands work together to help customers get more from every rand spent."
“At FNB, we're committed to continually finding new ways to reward customers for the financial choices they already make, while helping them unlock greater value from their everyday spending"
