Having worked in an engineering company, including interning on many consultation projects with SANRAL, I am much acclimatized to working well under pressure. Much of my IT experience has been focused on transportation systems, and in this I have grown skills ranging from programming, data and network management (with products such as SQL and Microsoft packages), to training, strategic planning, and business communication. I was responsible for starting up the IT infrastructure and systems for the South African sector of Zara (ITX Fashion Retail), largest retail company today, and was able to stand with the best in a new environment. I am a fast learner and always able to rise to a challenge; I started my appointment at Zara without any training and very quickly adapted to their in-house devolved POS and other applications. Whilst working there I also had to train all staff on POS operations and do troubleshooting and end-user training for head office. I feel my experience is uniquely unmatched as I have a combination from different IT fields, and a wide range of skills.
I feel that the information systems field in S.A is under-played, but the world today is based on systems that can seamlessly access data and convert it to information that can be interpreted and used to make decision to improve our way of life; I want to be a part of enforcing such applications in South Africa. I believe we are colours in a mechanical rainbow; without others there is no beauty in the complete product. We all have something to learn from each other. The key is to make each piece work together so that the beauty is created in life.
I'm a 'wired' character, a person that keeps up to date about the trends in technology and how it can be applied to improve our work environment. I am well spoken and an excellent communicator, with good work ethic. I work well with people, and also have initiative and am able to manage problems independently.
