OSKA TEE was born on the 3rd of March 1976 in Mthatha, Eastern Cape. His full names are Bathandwa Oscar Tyumre. He sang at school, church and at home as a kid. Raised by his grandparents, both choristers, OSKA TEE got very strong musical influences at an early stage. His uncles used to listen to a lot of jazz, soul, country, R&B and African music. OSKA TEE grew up listening to and singing along records by artists like; Aretha Franklin, Marvin Gaye, Dobie Gray, Curtis Mayfield, Dolly Parton, Miriam Makeba, Letta Mbulu, Alga Mvicane, Stompi Mavi, Margeret Mcingana, Joan Aramatrading and Mahlathini. At the family home they used to sing everything from Hymns and choral songs to traditional Xhosa wedding songs and popular music.
Having come to Johannesburg in 1992, after being inspired by Brenda Fassie and Chicco Twala, OSKA TEE enrolled as a music student at Funda arts centre in Diepkloof, Soweto. There he got an opportunity to be trained vocally by professionals like Sibongile Khumalo. He then started to back up other artists like Nomuntu Kappa, Mercy Pakela, Brenda Fassie, Suthukazi, Splash, Dalom kids and others. In 1995 OSKA TEE formed an R&B band called "ZEPPRA SAFARI" and on the same year they released their CD "YOU SNOOZ YOU LOSE" with Universal sound and music. OSKA TEE quit music in 1996 to pursue business studies. After graduating with Damelin in 1997, He came back in 1998 as Brenda Fassie's road show manager; in 1999 as music promoter with kuma-kwethu promotions and finally as marketing manager for independent record labels like Triple M. records and later Randzo music between 2001 and 2007. In the corporate side of things OSKA TEE worked with artists like Arthur Mafokate, Chicco Twala, Brenda Fassie, Joe Nina, Mafikizolo, Thembinkosi, Bongo Maffin to name but a few.
OSKA TEE released three albums between 2004 and 2010. He has continued to tour the country and neighbouring countries like Botswana. Working as a manager for artists like Patricia Majalisa, BY 4, Ludwe Maki and Bafana Kunene from May 2010 has helped expose him more in places like Namibia, Botswana and Zimbabwe where these artists are popular. He now has thousands of followers there and his records (albums) are on demand. He also wrote four tracks for Patricia Majalisa's SAMA nominated album EPATINI in 2010. Other artists that OSKA TEE wrote for include AMACWAKA, COLLEN and MELODY.
OSKA TEE has also worked as a guest presenter for community radio stations like UCR, Vukani and Grahamstown radio stations in the Eastern Cape.
In June 2011 OSKA TEE launched the O'TEE PRODUCTIONS recording studios and fully fledged record label in Johannesburg.
OSKA TEE's new single for 2012 UBOMI (featured in his greatest hits album), is now out and already on charts in many radio stations in South Africa. OSKA TEE also works as a DJ and has won hearts of many in that field too.
