Show profile Hide profileI have got more than 27 years experience in the IT/ICT Services. 16 years has been at Management level. The other years were spent as Systems Analyst and Business Systems Analyst. I have dealt with project management at all times as I have been in charge of most work.
Analyst Programmer/Systems Analyst/Business Systems Analyst
Working in the above capacities there has been lots of project management is systems development, design, training, and implementation of systems.
Projects for Systems development and implementation were done at the Zimbabwe Electricity Supply Authority, and BHP Minerals Zimbabwe.
Management Level
I have been IT/IS Manager for a long periods of time where I managed projects within constraints of time, cost, and quality. All this has been done to meet the business requirements. Major milestones have been the guiding factor in the projects plan and successful completion of projects.
I have had running projects at the University of Zimbabwe and other Universities in Zimbabwe - developing systems, and doing cabling campus wide network.
At the University of Fort Hare I was involved in various activities in service delivery. The one big project I was involved with was the renewal of the network at the main campus with a total cost of R11million. In addition there are a number of cabling projects with defined deadlines which I managed for the University of Fort Hare. In all these instances there was a business case and the main thrust was to ensure the business receives the due benefits as has been stated in the Business case.
I trained all staff in ITIL at the University of Fort Hare, and this led to the implementation of change management using ITIL principles.
My time at the University of Zululand as ICT Director was filled with lots of activities. I had a number of projects running in one year. The projects were as follows: The revamp of the core switching network infrastructure, rollout of wireless devices, and the upgrade of the data centre. The main business case of the projects was to improve student life both during the day and after hours. R30million was expended in 1 year. The Project management constraints were very key in the success of the projects.
The second year saw the start of new projects: Replacement of fiber to the new technology, the role out of Video Conferencing Units, The rollout of Digital Signage system for the entire University, and the implementation of the clinic management system. The other smaller projects under my administration included system centre implementation and share-point point implementation.
In summary all my work so far in the past 9 years has been to deal with projects and monitoring and evaluating the rollout projects to meet the assigned costs, time lines and the quality thereof. In addition I also trained all staff at ITIL foundation, and introduced change management control, in our service desk system which I upgraded.
