Show profile Hide profileI was formerly contracted as the Deputy Manager: Executive Support within Business Regulations at the KZN Department of Economic Development and Tourism. I have extensive experience within an HOD's office as I have been an Assistant Manager in the Office of the Head of Department on secondment to the KZN Provincial Department of Agriculture, Environmental Affairs and Rural Development, from the KZN Provincial Department of Human Settlements from May 2008 to December 2009. I have managed Secretariat functions to all Departmental Senior Management meetings, Strategic Planning sessions as well as Secretariat for Ministerial Sub-committees relating to Departmental issues. In January 2010, my secondment ended and I returned to the KZN Provincial Department of Human Settlements as the Assistant Manager to the Chief Operations Officer, who acted as HOD for a 3 month period. After a lateral transfer to the KZN Department of Economic Development and Tourism, I was positioned as the Assistant Manager within the Office of the SGM: Industrial Development and Business Regulations.
I have been previously employed by the KZN Provincial Department of Co-operative Governance and Traditional Affairs (COGTA) within the Office of the CFO and as a Responsibility Manager. Whilst at COGTA, I gained sufficient experience working on Annual Reports, Annual Performance Plans and Strategic Planning sessions, as detailed in my CV. In addition, I was seconded to the Employee Assistance Programme, Human Resource Development for a brief period as a Senior Human Resources Practitioner. As such, I am familiar with Batho Pele principles, government finance, procurement procedures, drafting of Human Resource policies, practices and procedures, preparation of annual reports and strategic plans; as well implementation of the Public Finance Management Act and Treasury regulations. As a result, I believe that I possess all necessary experience for this position.
Administrative functions include executive support, office management, report writing, monitoring and preparation of correspondence and dealing with matters of a top secret and confidential nature. I am able to maintain confidentiality, have been trained in and am able to follow appropriate government protocols in managing engagements. I understand political and parliamentary processes and have dealt with Ministerial, parliamentary and cabinet matters and have liaised extensively with all levels of the government sector. I have over 7 years of experience in Provincial government and two years of experience in National government.
My tertiary education includes a Bachelor's degree attained from the former University of Natal, where I majored in Psychology and English; and completed a full year of the subject, IsiZulu. In addition, I have also completed an Honours degree in Psychology, which includes Research Methods and Statistics and a Masters degree in Business Administration (MBA). As displayed on my CV, I have a Code B drivers license, I am proficient in MS Office and research techniques and have accumulated extensive experience in administration and management at government departments and other private institutions.
