As of March 2006 John Bredin takes over the chairmanship of Clover SA from Dr Vos Grey. John will also serve as vice chairman of Clover Industries Limited (CIL) and is an alternate director of Clover Danone Beverages Limited. In 1990 he was elected as director of NCD and became vice-chairman in 1992, he has served as vice-chairman of Clover S.A. since 1994.
Dairy runs deep in the family history of John Bredin, he hails from KwaZulu-Natal and joined his father in the farming business in 1969 after obtaining a diploma in Agriculture from the Cedara Agricultural College. His grandfather, father and father-in-law served on the Board of the former National Cooperative Dairies Limited (NCD).
The majority of Clover shares are held by their producers, and as a result the producers are aware of the market requirements and have a vested interest in the success of the company. Clover is one of the largest food companies in the country, and an organisation with a track record of more than a century.
