Local TV show nominated for Emmy again

For the second year in a row, South African series Home Affairs from Penguin Films has been nominated in the Drama Series category in the 36th International Emmy Awards, which will take place in New York, 24 November 2008. The third season of this series is up against Danish production The Killing, Life On Mars from the UK and Brazil's Mandrake. “The success of Home Affairs, I think, is that it tells stories which reflect the diversity of millions of women in our country with pathos, complexity and humour, confronting head-long the challenges they face,” says creative director and Penguin Films CEO Roberta Durrant. “That it has achieved international recognition is a big plus for the prestige and the acknowledgement of our television industry as being on par with the best in the world.”
