Food and beverages industry income up 8.4% in August

Total income in the food and beverage industry increased 8.4% in August 2015 compared with August 2014, Stats SA said on Monday.

Positive annual growth rates were recorded for food sales (9.7%) and bar sales (8.5%).

In August 2015, the highest annual growth rates were recorded for restaurants and coffee shops and takeaway and fast-food outlets.

Total income increased by 8.1% in the three months ended August 2015 compared with the three months ended August 2014.
