CHOC Childhood Cancer Foundation hosts Christmas in June
Each year in Cape Town, the CHOC Childhood Cancer Foundation hosts a Christmas in June celebration for children with cancer and their parents.
As part of the Danone Clover, "Caring for our Children campaign" this year's Christmas in June was hosted on Saturday 23 June at the Protea Hall, Tygerberg Hospital Grounds and the event was themed around Ultramel, with custard and desserts for one and all to enjoy.
Why Christmas in June? The heartbreaking truth is, nobody knows whether the children will still be with us come December. Cancer respects no-one, not even innocent little children.
CHOC Childhood Cancer Foundation invited the diagnosed children, their brothers, sisters, parents and grandparents to the party. Parents enjoyed a cooked meal and some light entertainment, and so did the children and their siblings. CHOC and Ultramel had a generous response to their appeal for donations of money, sweets, chocolates, chips, cool drinks and Christmas gifts for the children.
Danone Clover's "Caring for Our Children" campaign runs throughout June and July this year. We will donate six cents for every Danone Clover yoghurt, drinking yoghurt, juice yoghurt blend and maas product sold. Through your support, you will help Danone Clover give the CHOC Childhood Cancer Foundation a fourth Danone Clover CHOC house which will be in Pretoria. The house is a place for kids and their parents to stay during treatment. Look out for Danone Clover's "Caring for Our Children" campaign.
