The newly renovated Hollywoodbets Kenilworth Racecourse hosted the L'Ormarins King's Plate on Saturday, 6 January 2024.
The Grade 1 L'Ormarins King's Plate, tracing its origins to 1861, stands as South Africa's oldest continuous horse race. Initially dedicated to Queen Victoria, it now pays homage to the British monarch, renamed after King Charles III's accession.
This event brings together thoroughbreds competing for the L'Ormarins King's Plate title and a share of the nearly R2m prize, marking a highlight on Cape Town's racing calendar.
