ITWeb Social Media Summit, MediaShop client workshops

In the spirit of knowledge extension in the media industry, ITWeb will hold its inaugural Social Media Summit in June and MediaShop will offer its clients ongoing media workshops with media specific education from some of the leaders in the media industry.

According to ITWeb, the summit will focus on equipping senior decision-makers with the information necessary to use social media to gain a competitive advantage. Corporate practitioners will share insights, strategies and best practices for social media that will cut through the buzz to the heart of the real business issues.

Delegates will go away with a better understanding of social media, equipped to overcome the risks and maximise the benefits for their business. They will learn how to leverage social media strategies and tools to improve the way in which they engage with stakeholders. Experts will analyse current trends and offer comments on future trends, as well as how to compile and use the data gained from social media channels.

Media training for staff

The MediaShop has launched a new "media education series," offering clients a platform for their staff. The topics range from basic media 101 to slightly more advanced media knowledge and sessions are broken up into training modules that will happen throughout the year.

At these sessions, clients can not only learn about what's happening in the industry, but also ask questions, give feedback, and share with each other.

"These sessions are a great way to interact with our clients while reiterating the most important aspects of media and how the advertising landscape looks at any particular time," says Chris Botha, group MD at The MediaShop. "Practical media training is something that is hard to find. We have a lot of knowledge and resource in this field and love sharing it with our clients.

"We plan to escalate the idea to media owners, creative agencies and, possibly, offer some competition to other media educational houses. For us it is all about partnerships. Once we get all stakeholders in the loop on the same page, we can really achieve collaborative greatness."
