    AFDA dominates SAFTAs 2011

    AFDA cleaned up the South African Film & Television Awards 2011 with two awards and four special mentions. This year AFDA had six nominations, at the first half of the 5th SAFTAs, held at Melrose Arch, Madame Zingara's Theatre of Dreams on 20 February 2011.

    All the nominees were invited to attend the glitz and glamour event of South African filmmaking... which is every filmmakers dream!

    The SAFTAs takes place over a period of two weekends. The first week awarded winners in the Non-Fiction categories. The second session awards the Fiction categories, which is to be held on Sunday 27th of February 2011.

    About the SAFTAs
    In 2005 representatives of the South African Film and Television industry resolved to come together under the auspices of the National Film and Video Foundation of South Africa (NFVF) to establish the annual South African Film and Television Awards, the SAFTA AWARDS (SAFTAS). The primary objective of the SAFTA Awards is to honour, celebrate and promote the creativity, quality and excellence of South African Film and Television talent and productions, and to encourage entrepreneurship and the development of new talent within the industry. SAFTAs has had four sessions to date. Each session has given over 70 awards each.

    Afda
    Afda is a Private Higher Education Institution owned by Stadio Holdings, which offers Higher Certificate and Degree programmes that are registered by the Department of Higher Education and Training (DHET) and the South African Qualifications Authority (SAQA).
