“Although taking place amidst difficult economic conditions, we fully expect the events to be a success,” comments exhibition manager, Michelle Bedser. “Exhibitors are positive about the current markets. The shows provide an ideal opportunity to showcase new products, trends and developments - there is great optimism going forward to 2010 and the shows are ideally positioned to beneficially impact the market.”

Pro-Label Africa
This will highlight the requirements of the new Consumer Protection Act, which impacts on local manufacturers in the way they label products, particularly when labels carry warnings and instructions to consumers. Correct labelling will become critical, and visitors can learn more about coding equipment, labels, label applicators, labelling machines and printing equipment, materials, scanning equipment, and substrates.
High value to SA
According to the Packaging Council of South Africa, at the end of 2008 the South African packaging industry was worth R35-billion and employed around 50 000 people. Packaging is an essential part of modern life and exists to protect, preserve, inform, attract, create economical options, enable our fast-paced lifestyles and prevent more waste than it creates. What waste it does create is managed largely by the South African packaging industry itself through facilitating the development of viable recycling chains.
