Oasys makes German connection in Angola

The annual Angola Trade Fair (FILDA) will be held in Luanda from 15 - 20 July and will draw nearly 30,000 visitors and exhibitors from many parts of the world.

It has become the most popular trade show in West Africa and five halls will be used, including one which was newly built to accommodate international demand. This year it will again feature the popular country cluster exhibition “Made in Germany”, which will be project managed for the seventh successive year by Jochen Feldberg of Intermesse.

Oasys Innovations have been contracted to supply the infrastructure for the German initiative over an area of 650 square meters. Says Oasys Chief Operating Officer Patrick Cronning: “To offset the cost of transport, we have made a special effort to introduce a new paneling system for exhibitions that need to be installed in other countries. Our new system, called X-Board, is light-weight due to a durable cardboard core. We will save the customer about 30% in air freight costs. About 22 tons of equipment will be flown to Luanda, but we will bring everything back to South Africa via sea freight."

“We have completed many infrastructures and exhibition stands for organizers and marketers throughout Africa, and we are familiar with country specific requirements,” says Cronning. “A crew of 10 of our employees, from tradesmen to project managers, will be in Angola for this project to ensure that the normal high standards of the German exhibitions industry are maintained at a level that they expect in their home market.”

Feldberg said that the quality of South African exhibition suppliers has improved to such levels of workmanship, that there is no need to contract companies from Germany to execute projects locally.
