Food and beverage income up 7.0%
This was from a 4.2% y/y increase to R3.6bn in October.
The highest annual growth rates were recorded for food sales and "other" income. The food and beverages survey is a monthly survey covering a sample of tax-paying public and private enterprises involved in the preparation of meals and drinks for immediate consumption in SA. The purpose of the survey is to monitor trends in the food and beverage industry. The figures are also used in the analysis of comparative business and industry performance.
A breakdown of the data showed that positive annual growth rates were recorded for takeaway and fast-food outlets‚ which contributed 3.7 percentage points‚ and restaurants and coffee shops‚ with a contribution of four percentage points.
Total income rose by 4.9% in the three months ended November 2013 compared with the same period in 2012.
The main contributors to this increase were takeaway and fast-food outlets and restaurants and coffee shops.
