Vodacom kiosks for visitors to SA

In a bid to meet the tourist and mobile communication needs of local and international fans “before and during major events taking place in South Africa”, Vodacom is launching a series of specialist kiosks, the company stated yesterday, Thursday, 18 June 2009.

The kiosks will show off the best of South Africa and provide a crucial focal point of information for visitors, helping to grow the country's reputation as a friendly and profoundly interesting world-class destination with a friendly welcoming smile.

Thousands of local and international visitors will be able to access information on various major tournaments currently taking place on our shores. They will also be able to access information on where to stay, tourist attractions in the host cities, how to get around and how to get connected via mobile phone or to the Internet using 3G. The information kiosks have been strategically placed in prominent shopping malls, hotels and airports.

Brand ambassadors

Vodacom brand ambassadors will be readily available to assist the users of the terminals and will provide free technical support to Vodacom subscribers, including live demonstrations of handsets and roaming for voice, data and 3G.

Enzo Scarcella, Vodacom's managing executive for brand said the company is a strong supporter of sport in South Africa and the kiosk initiative is in line with the company's continued focus of bringing products and services closer to the consumer.

“With our roaming support for voice and data services, we will certainly give all visitors a truly memorable Vodacom and South African experience,” he said.

Locations

The concierge kiosk desk in the International Arrivals at the OR Tambo International Airport in Johannesburg and Cape Town International Airport will also distribute free Supporter Boxes to all international visitors. The package will comprise a Vodacom starter pack, beanie, Wi Fi Connection Manager CD, lanyard, ticket holder, drawstring bag and an international adapter.
