A book to reflect a nation
The book contains 33 short stories that reveal the growing South African culture of ubuntu and the emerging soul of South African business. It captures the indomitable human spirit of the unsung heroes and dedicated companies who are uplifting the disadvantaged in the country.
This is a book about the miracle-makers themselves, by and large ordinary people who would never boast of their achievements, but whose stories cry out to be told.
Worldwide Media Chairman Sandile Koza says: "The book documents some of the sixty stories told in the popular TV series, Kaelo - The Miracle Stories. Up to a million viewers a week have tuned in to watch each episode of the 29-part documentary on SABC2 during 2005 and will be pleased to know that many of these remarkable stories are now in print.
"We are focused on telling the miracle stories of how dedicated individuals supported by corporate investment are transforming this nation as widely as possible. In this way, best practices can be shared, the public can be better informed, and investment can be further mobilized."
For Steuart Pennington and Brett Bowes, editors of South Africa - The Good News and South Africa 2014 - The Story of our Future, this latest publication is the culmination of three years of research.
Pennington says: "So often we fall into the trap of thinking there is nothing or little that we can do - how do you help a million AIDS/HIV orphans, how do you help kids in a school where there are no classrooms, no sanitation and no desks, how do you bring medical help to the most rural of our communities?
"Many of us would tend to despair, but in South Africa, there is an extraordinary resolve not to. This book describes the quite unbelievable determination of ordinary South Africans, their creativity, their perseverance and their concern. Writing this book has been the most uplifting experience of our lives."
Miracles That Are Changing A Nation is now available at leading bookstores.
