Algoa FM refreshes lineup

Algoa FM, celebrating 25 years of broadcasting in 2011, is changing its lineup, following preparation, extensive market research and analysis that informed its decision to refresh the programme offerings and harness the changing demographics of its loyal base. The biggest changes involve Viv Bozack and Charl Leslie trading day-parts.

"Viv will be presenting the 12-3pm show weekdays, while Charl moves to a new 7-10pm slot, after which KayCee Rossouw will take over the reigns until 2am," says programme director Alfie Jay.

KayCee's Team Nightshift show currently runs from 12-3am. "The Fast Lane with Wayne Hart and Lauren Mungur is being extended to run from 3-7pm - this will mirror the time slot of The Border Drive with Gordon Graham and Vatiswa Ndara. By doing this, our two afternoon drive shows will finally be in sync with one another, which helps us overcome a marketing challenge," he adds.

The 2-5am show will be presented by Slyso (Sizwe Saliso), who will also retain his popular "Algoa FM Party Night" on Saturdays. He will be followed by Briony Sparg from 5-6am, after which the morning team of Daron Mann, Carol-Ann Kelleher and Charlton Tobias take over. Selwyn Willis, who is in the 3-6am timeslot now, will be leaving the station.

The popular Lance du Plessis retains his weekday mid-morning show. There are also a number of exciting changes planned for the weekend, says Jay. "We're currently in negotiations with a well-known national personality and expect to make an announcement soon," he concludes.

The new line-up takes effect on Monday October 18, 2010.
