OFM - Rocking in October

OFM, the sound of your life in central South Africa, is rocking to the beat in October with live shows, theme weekends and a number of exciting events.

The Parlotones Unplugged Winterfest Tour, powered by OFM, takes place on Friday, 3 October, in the Sand du Plessis Theatre in Bloemfontein. This tour will be the band's first full unplugged outing consisting of acoustic renditions across the band's entire catalogue. Tickets cost R150 per person and are available at Pacofs.

Potchefstroom will be rocking from 7 to 11 October at the Aardklop Arts Festival. OFM is once again a premier sponsor of this event and will be sponsoring the OFM stage with performances by Navi Redd, Marcato, Flatlander and Wesna Steenkamp, to name a few. Isabel Venter, Yolanda Maartens and Success Lekaba will also broadcast live from the festival grounds from 09:00 to 15:00 weekdays, and 12:00 to 15:00 on Saturday.

Celebrate summer with Diamonds and Pearls - a tribute to Neil Diamond and Celine Dion in association with OFM. The concert takes place on the 31st of October and 1st of November in the Sand du Plessis Theatre in Bloemfontein. The tribute is performed by a nine-piece world-class act, featuring Johan Liebenberg as Neil Diamond. Tickets cost R150 per person and are available at Pacofs.

OFM supports local music and is proud to be associated with the K2 central South Africa tour from 11 October to 8 November. The band has played together since 2004 and is a regular feature at festivals and concert venues, including KKNK, Aardklop, Sun City and the Windmill Casino. Following on the success of their album "The Battle", K2 were voted best band for 2013 in central South Africa by OFM and Get It magazine. They will perform in Kimberley (Springbok Pub) on 11 October, Potchefstroom (Bourbon Street) on 23 October, Klerksdorp (Rio Casino) on 24 October, Vanderbijl Park (Emerald Resort) on 7 November and Bethlehem (Stoepstories) on 8 November.

The promise of warmer weather brings people outside to play and have fun, including at Senwes Park's Stadium Gholf, in association with OFM, on 9 and 10 October. Play 18 holes at R500 for a four-ball, or R800 for two four-balls. Adrenaline junkies can look forward to the Ghaap River Xtreme event from 24 to 26 October at the Broadwater Resort near Douglas. Wakeboarding, cycling, swimming and the biggest raft race in Africa are just some of the highlights to look forward to.

Says Station Manager, Nick Efstathiou: "October is always a fun-filled month and OFM is thrilled to be part of these quality events. However, we are also on the eve of South Africa's busiest road travel season. The 'Don't Text and Drive' campaign was launched on the 1st of October and we urge drivers to pledge not to text and drive."

Listeners can support the campaign by going to www.ofm.co.za to pledge "not to text and drive". Accidents or other road issues can be reported via the OFM traffic hotline (082 237 9497, or send a text to 360OFM (36636) at R1.50 per SMS.
