Bob Skinstad leads Virgin Active Sport Industry Awards judging panel

Skinstad says, "Both as a player and latterly as a businessman, I have witnessed a rapid evolution of the South African sport industry across my career. I'm delighted to once again play my part in the exhaustive, comprehensive and objective judging process for the awards - the only event which recognises this fact and rewards those companies that have invested in our sporting organisations and personalities - and to welcome some new judges."

Judges

The three new judges are:

• Derek Watts, Carte Blanche anchor

• Nikki Cockcroft, chair, DMMA and head of Bookmarks

• Danny Jordaan, former CEO of the 2010 FIFA World Cup Organising Committee
  
• David Becker, international sports lawyer
  
• Dr Ali Bacher, chairman of Right to Care
  
• Gareth Whittaker, MD of Thackwell and Whittaker
  
• James Monteith, director of BMI Sport Info
  
• Janine Lloyd, MD of Livewired Public Relations
  
• Ross Faragher-Thomas, MD of Virgin Active

The judging process for the awards is described as one of the most transparent and stringent procedures of its kind, with every step overseen by independent adjudicators, Deloitte, which takes full audited notes of all judges' comments and thoughts, ensuring total transparency and enabling a high level of feedback to entrants.
