Markex hosts over 10 000 visitors

Markex & World of Events Gauteng 2005, incorporating the new Business of Sport exhibition, held at the Sandton Convention Centre this month was completely sold out before it opened its doors to the 10 440 trade guests who visited the exhibition over the three days. This visitor figure is 10% up on that of the 2004 show.

From a visitor point of view, Markex & World of Events had a much greater diversity of marketing and promotional products and a variety of stand designs.

From the exhibitors' perspectives, the show has moved forwards in leaps and bounds with a number of exhibitors commenting on the significant improvement in the quality of the show and the type of visitor.

Show organisers Exhibitions for Africa are happy with the feedback from the show. Lynn Chamier, Director of Markex & World of Events, says: "The show was undoubtedly our most successful one to date from both a visitor and exhibitor perspective. We have had nothing but positive feedback and are looking forward to expanding the show from 2 halls to 3 at the Sandton Convention Centre next year."

Jo Melville, Managing Director of Exhibitions for Africa, says: "We included Business of Sport in order to accommodate the growing business and marketing trend towards sports sponsorship and related marketing activities and the response to it is such that it is clear that this is a gap that needs to be filled in the trade exhibition space.

"We will be running Business of Sport as an exhibition-within-an-exhibition at Markex & World of Events next year and look forward to watching it grow from strength to strength as the countdown to 2010 begins."

The Best Stand Awards for the show were handed out at the exhibitor cocktail party which took place on Wednesday 8 June. In the Business of Sport category, Megapro Marketing walked away with Best Stand and Southern Sun Hotels with a Highly Commended award.

In the Small Stand category, the awards went to Rain, Conference Communications, CSIR International Convention Centre, and Cape Town International Convention Centre as Highly Commended Runners Up, with Sandy's Ribbons & Bows seizing the Winner's Award.

In the Best Medium Stand Awards Category, Highly Commended Runners Up certificates went to Visual Concepts, Premium Executive Gifts, Setbuild, Plasmaview Technologies, Eyecon, Balloon Man / Party Creations, and EXSA, whilst the Winner's Award went to Quickmark.

And in the fourth and final category - Best Large Stand - 3D Design, KMQ Promotions, Eezee Products, Set Squared, Maverick Masupatsela, C & R Group, Gearhouse, and Specialist Audio all received Highly Commended recognition, whilst the Winner's Prize was jointly shared between Scan Display Solutions and Showgroup.
