Categories for Virgin Active Sport Industry Awards announced
The organisers of the South African Virgin Active Sport Industry Awards have revealed which categories have so far been confirmed for the event taking place on 17 February 2011 at Emperors Palace, Johannesburg. This is the first replication of the awards beyond the UK.
The awards, considered one of Europe's largest and most prestigious commercial sport awards, recognises the best the sport business has to offer in marketing, PR, sponsorship, new media, publishing, advertising and design.

- Sport Brand of the Year
- Best Use of PR in a Sport Campaign
- Best Commercial Franchise of the Year
- Best International Sponsorship from a South African Company
- Best TV Sport Commercial
- Best Sport TV Show
- Technological Innovation in Sport Award
- Best Sport Magazine
- Best Sponsorship of a Sport Event or Competition
- Best Sponsorship of a Sport Team or Individual
- Best Grassroots Development Programme
- Provincial Governing Body of the Year
- Sport Agency of the Year
- South African Sport Leader of the Year
- Sport Entrepreneur of the Year
- Lifetime Achievement Award
Marcus Brewster, founder of PR agency Brewster Publicity, is one of the first judges to be announced. The rest should be revealed in coming weeks.
