CTV launches with a live broadcast

The channel has lined up an array of local talent that showcases a range of typical Cape Town cultures. The launch event will be held on Saturday 18 April 2009 in the newly completed AFDA studios at 18 Lower Scott Road Observatory.

The lineup will consist of top Cape Town talent including dance acts, bands, DJs and poets. The entertainment on offer is aimed at appealing to a youthful audience and a variety of musical tastes including soul, R&B, hip hop, house and trance.

VJs will display a dazzling visual feast on the screens on the walls, while an ambient chill lounge will provide people with a space in which to relax. Here, celebrities and other party-goers will be interviewed by our roving camera team, who will feed these sound bites to the live broadcast.

A maximum of 500 tickets (R100 each) will be sold for the event. Pre-event sales will be through StrictlyTickets (www.strictlytickets.com), which uses both online and telephone booking systems; patrons can book their tickets either on the StrictlyTickets website or through the call centre on +27 (73) 725 7381 or +27 (83) 250 2690.

Doors open at 19h30 and live performances will run from 20h30 to 22h30, after which time the DJs will take over until the event ends at 02h00. The actual live broadcast will take place over five-and-a-half hours, from 20h30 to 02h00.

CTV is dedicated to providing the people of Cape Town with a non-profit, community television service that is entertaining, informative and educational. The channel plays an eclectic mix of local and international content that ranges from documentaries about Cape Town's people and history to events, entertainment and spirituality.
