South Africa mourns Lucky Dube

In less than a week, two prominent South African entertainers have been killed in Johannesburg - first Patrick ‘Kid' Mokoena, the Soul City actor who played the part of Thulasizwe, was shot dead in a bar in Jeppe in the early hours of Sunday morning. And now Reggae star Lucky Dube aged 43, has lost his life in a botched hijacking in Rosettenville, last night, Thursday 18 October.

News24.com reports that Dube was attacked at about 8pm, after he had just dropped off his son in Rosettenville. His son was already out of the car when he saw what was happening and called for help. Dube's daughter also managed to escape harm.

It is thought that Dube was shot in the stomach. SABC news reports that he drove on, trying to get away from his attackers before crashing his car.
