Call to entries for Social Entrepreneurs Awards
Ernst & Young and the Schwab Foundation for Social Entrepreneurship are on the search for this year’s best South African social entrepreneur as part of the Ernst & Young’s World Entrepreneur Awards Programme, co-sponsored by Rand Merchant Bank. Nominations for the Social Entrepreneurs Awards close on 15 March 2007.
Social entrepreneurs are innovators who implement practical and sustainable solutions to address problems in numerous areas including health, education, environment, access to technology and job creation. Whether they are set up as for profit or not for profit organisations, their primary focus is transformational social change.
The Schwab Foundation and Ernst & Young seek to recognise and reward leading South African social entrepreneurs. The finalists will be invited to the World Economic Forum’s Africa Economic Summit, 13 - 15 June 2007. The winner will gain access to the Schwab Foundation’s global network, providing the opportunity to engage global decision takers from the public, corporate, media and academic sectors to strengthen and expand their models.
