Designing economic upliftment
Design Week is in full swing as the World Design Convergence in Sandton goes into its second day. Celia Clucas, CEO of Design SA, hopes that government and business will recognise the value of design as a strategic management tool.
"Business managers often perceive design to be just an add-on, but it's an integral part of any business plan," says Clucas. "Design is not just about the manufacturing of goods. It can assist in leveraging services such as tourism and banking. It is design, after all, which gives companies a competitive edge."
