CCDI design support manager Gillian Benjamin says, “The Open Design Festival is exciting, because it aims to show how the application of design can be used to improve quality of life, from healthcare to transport and housing. The festival therefore plays an important role in educating the public about the importance of design in all areas of the economy. Each year it also inspires hundreds of school learners about the exciting career opportunities that exist within design – this is integral in ensuring that we are training the next generation with the skills and competencies we need to drive innovation in the region.”
