New Herbalife campaign
The campaign launched late February with FC Barcelona forward, Lionel Messi and will run until the end of the Barcelona La Liga and UEFA Championship League in mid-May 2012.
In 2010, Herbalife signed a three-year, multi-million dollar agreement with FC Barcelona to become the official nutrition sponsor for the football team. Messi also signed a personal sponsorship agreement with Herbalife.
To celebrate, the Messi campaign three South Africans will win authenticated, autographed and framed Lionel Messi FC Barcelona t-shirts.
"We are excited to bring this opportunity to South Africa and hope the competition winners will be just as enthusiastic. South Africa has some of the highest numbers of soccer enthusiasts in the world and our relationship with FC Barcelona has allowed us the opportunity to reward three local fans," says Lesley- Anne Thornton, country director of Herbalife Southern Africa Region.
A percentage of the team's sponsorship fee is paid to the FCB Foundation, which works through its National Network of Solidarity (XICS) Centers to help children at risk. According to the agreement with Messi, the Herbalife Family Foundation also collaborates with the Leo Messi Foundation (which assists kids and adolescents in risk situation) to develop nutritional health and education programmes.
