Howzit! World cup fever is back, in green
Watch it live
Howzit MSN has partnered with TEAMtalkmedia to create a dedicated match channel, which offers expert blogs, live match commentary and full, up-to-the-minute news coverage on Cricket365.com.
Howzit MSN editor Justin Zehmke says, "Following the success of our Soccer World Cup channel in 2010, the decision to do something special for the Cricket World Cup was an easy one to make. We will bring our readers a comprehensive coverage of the event and we expect in excess of 1 million of them to access the site during the tournament."
This partnership created the perfect opportunity for Digitalmark to come up with an innovative offering that allows Silversands to take advantage of a captive audience, via a page take. Ivana Savov says, "SilverSands is passionate about gaming and is proud to support one of the biggest sporting events in the world. It is a privilege to connect to an audience that loves the thrill of the game."
LG goes green
LG Electronics, as global partners of International Cricket Council (ICC) and supporters of the local cricket team, the Proteas, is running in-store promotions, where consumers and cricket fans will be treated to special product offers and competitions for LG prizes.
LG Electronics South Africa is also rooting for one of our Proteas players to be awarded an LG ICC Award again, as was the case with AB de Villiers, who won the award for ODI Player of the Year in 2009.
Michelle Potgieter, LG Electronics South Africa's marketing director says, "Through our sponsorship, the company aims to create a sense of pride for the game among the country's up-and-coming cricketers. We believe that this partnership with the ICC will not only grow the brand, but also increase the awareness of the game of cricket among consumers and the general public."
Flying the colours
On 8 February, Emirates flew South Africa's national cricket team, the Proteas, to India to begin preparations for the ICC Cricket World Cup 2011. Its partnership with the ICC includes sponsorship of the 2011 and 2015 Cricket World Cups, as well as the ICC World Twenty20 and ICC Champions Trophy.
"The company shares its customers' passion for sport and the sponsorship of the ICC and many other properties on a global and grassroots level is an important way to connect with our customers both in South Africa and across the world," said Fouad Caunhye, regional manager for Emirates in Southern Africa.
Emirates was the official carrier for the 2010 FIFA World Cup and continues to have holding rights to all FIFA events up to and including the 2014 tournament. The airline is also one of the major sponsors for the IRB Rugby World Cup 2011, which kicks off in September in New Zealand.
