Warming up winter with highly shareable content

So Interactive, digital creative agency, has just launched a highly shareable content generating app for Ocean Basket, and it's called: Steam Sketch. The app forms part of the Ocean Basket winter campaign entitled "Spice Up Your Winter", which introduces a number of new, piping hot winter menu items and launched in-store on Wednesday, 20 May.

When Ocean Basket requested a brand esteem digital element for their new winter campaign, So Interactive jumped at the chance to create a highly emotive, user content driven app. The key idea was to create something that would drive user engagement on a tactile level, with the goal of sharing the consumers' expressive messaging across social media and mobile devices. The app fits perfectly into Ocean Basket's overall digital strategy to generate increased consumer engagement with all brand touch points. With that in mind, Steam Sketch was born.

We've all done it at some point, given in to that overpowering urge to reach out and sketch something in a steamed-up bedroom window, car windshield or bathroom mirror. It's an act filled with memories, with nostalgia and it's deeply endearing, and So Interactive has turned it into a digital and mobile experience.

The choice to make this app primarily for mobile devices was not just informed by the fifty-fifty PC to Mobile traffic split on Ocean Basket's website, it was also a strategic creative choice. Mobile devices are central to most of our lives and it is through them that we continue to be connected to our world, and most especially to those people closest too us; the very people we would want to send a caring little message to, via a Steam Sketch. Furthermore, the touch screen of a mobile device adds that tactile element which makes the experience that much more emotive and expressive, there's nothing more fun and childlike than using your finger to draw a lovable message or picture.

"The Steam Sketch App is a subtle brand esteem element, supporting the retail campaign. Steam is the bridging element which runs through all aspects of the campaign, and gave us the perfect foundation to build something that would immediately garner meaningful user generated content," shares Darren Mansour, So Interactive Digital Director, "What is particularly special about this app is that the user generated content is personal and fun, and it brings back the childhood reveries and excitement of winter."

To make it easier for consumers to get their inner steam sketcher going, So Interactive has provided a number of fortnightly themes, all to do with winter, caring and friendship. Lack of inspiration is not an option. The Steam Sketch App promises to bring out the best part of the winter experience for all of us, and there is a cozy reward of a crate of winter goodies for the best sketches. What better way to warm up your winter than with fun, lovable and highly shareable content.
