Connie Molusi elected PMSA president
Connie Molusi, Group Chief Executive Officer of Johnnic Communications, was elected as the new President of Print Media SA at the recent 11th Annual General Meeting of the organization in Johannesburg.
Molusi, who will take over the reigns from outgoing President Trevor Ncube (CEO of Mail & Guardian), accepted his new position with enthusiasm: "I'm excited to lead a growing newspaper market, spurred by the success of the South Africa transformation that has underscored the relevance of the newspapers as a reliable source of information and entertainment.
"While in the past pundits had heralded the decline of the printed word, however, contrary to these predictions we are in the clasped of an exciting era with more publications coming to market and attracting an increase pool of new newspaper readers.
"As an organization and industry we are better placed than three years ago to deal with our challenges, the market has seen consistent growth both in advertising spend and circulation growth ensuring that we continue to benefit from a robust economy and buoyant consumer spending."
Print Media SA is an association representing the interests of 617 newspaper and magazine publishers in South Africa.
Molusi was also elected as the President of the Newspaper Association of South Africa, an association representing the interest of all metropolitan national daily and weekly newspapers.
