Enter SABS, Sanlam media awards

Awards for media writers are open for the 2011 SABS Media Awards and the deadline for the Sanlam MDDA Local Media Awards has been moved to Friday, 29 July 2011, to accommodate entries.

SABS media award

The SABS has identified and honoured key stakeholders for their contribution towards the development of standards and standardisation-related issues during the 2010-2011 financial year.

The media award gives recognition to media houses for creating awareness about standards and issues related to standardisation through the media, eg papers presented, articles published, publicity programmes presented etc.

While the intention of the award is to honour journalists, editors and others involved in the media, individuals who regularly write and publish relevant articles on standardisation are also eligible for the award.

Entries close on 15 August 2011 and the awards dinner is on 15 October 2011. Download the Standards Awards Nomination form (SABS Media Awards) here.

Local Media Awards

New to this year's Sanlam MDDA Local Media Awards competition are three sections in the writing category; editorial comment, medical and health, and headlines. Photography now has portraits as a separate section and is no longer part of the human-interest section.

The prize giving has also been moved to Friday 18 November.
