#Newsmaker: Kriya Gangiah shakes things up
'Info-tainment professional' and Jacaranda FM's digital lead, Kriya Gangiah, while still on air for the Saturday Top 20 show, recently left the station's midweek evening drive show to focus her time and energy on some undisclosed opportunities, which we'll find out more about next year...
“There are some really great ventures that are on the way for 2018, but for now I just want to enjoy the rest of the year and have a great holiday and come back with a bang.”
In the meantime, we asked Gangiah why she decided to leave Jacaranda FM’s evening drive show and how she balances multiple media-related roles…
Kriya Gangiah
Why did you decide to leave Jacaranda FM’s evening drive show?
I have been with Jacaranda FM for four years now and even though I absolutely love my #JacaFamily it’s time to shake things up a little.
You’re also a presenter on SABC’s Mela show. What is your strategy for working on multiple platforms? How do you manage or balance your various roles? For me, it’s more a love than a strategy. I absolutely love both radio and television, and I want to do both for as long as possible.
It just means that you need great time management and to be able to schedule your time.
What do you love most about your career?
The fact that I get to connect with people. It may sound cheesy, but you become part of people’s lives, even if it is in the smallest way.
What has been your most noteworthy learning in the digital space, as digital lead for Jacaranda FM at Kagiso Media?
The space is forever changing and developing, especially in South Africa. We are in a space that is still fresh, which means we can learn and create new and exciting digital media.
What are you most looking forward to in 2018?
A fresh start. I think 2018 is going to be a year of promise and new opportunities.
