Their top winner was Prime Club, produced for Permanent Bank (now merged with Old Mutual Bank), which was the outright winner of the Writing Category as well as being judged the Best External Magazine.
The following publications all received certificates of excellence for achieving an 80% mark (or more):
1. MediBrief, a monthly newsletter produced for the Anglo American Medical Aid Society - an excellent example of an effective newsletter on a difficult subject, done at minimal cost.
2. Skorpion's Tale, a monthly tabloid produced for Anglo Base Metals about a zinc project in Namibia. This chatty tabloid was also a finalist in the "Best Internal Newsletter" category.
3. Harmonise, a monthly tabloid for Harmony Gold Mine ... and a mine of information about a challenging environment. Harmonise was also a finalist in the overall "Best Internal Newspaper" category.
4. Archimedes, a magazine for secondary school learners, produced on behalf of the Foundation for the Education of Science and Technology, was one of the four finalists in the "Best External Magazine" category.
Just over 60 entries were received from companies as diverse as Old Mutual, Absa, Sanlam, Deloitte & Touche, Pretoria Technikon, Spoor & Fisher, and Pick 'n Pay.
