SABC's new television commercial for the African Cup of Nations embodies the national broadcaster's commitment to local sport and soccer in particular. Created by Y&R, the ad stars a real life soccer legend in the making.
South Africans, both male and female have a passion for soccer, so with this in mind, a young girl was chosen for the starring role, according to Ashika Asharam, Creative Head of Y&R.
"She came to a couple of castings where all were dazzled by her skills and maturity in front of the camera, especially since she had never done anything like this before. She was masterful," says Clinton Bridgeford, Creative Director at Y&R.
