Creative competition scouting for teen talent

Out-of-the-box young learners will be treated to a Lateral Thinking workshop and competition to be held by the AAA School of Advertising on Saturday, 9 August 2008, at its Cape Town Campus to scout for new young talent.

Since an essential aspect of creativity is not being afraid to express crazy ideas, learners should arrive with originality in tow, and prepared to be stretched to the max. The workshop is open to all Grade 10 -12 learners and ideally suited to all innovative teens that thrive on imagination, inspiration and ingenuity.

The day begins with a presentation from an advertising guru, followed by a lateral thinking workshop, where learners are taught exactly how to confine an original idea within an advertising concept. The afternoon session will see the teens compete for an iPod shuffle. The judging criteria include originality, artistic talent, and conceptual thinking. A short prize giving will draw the day to a close and the top 10 in the talent pool will walk away with a host of funky prizes.

Paper will be supplied, but students should bring their own lunch, as well as drawing materials such as crayons, pencils, charcoal, paints or kokis. A R50 charge will be levied for the day and is payable at the door. Space is limited and is on a first come, first served basis. Learners are required to RSVP on or before Friday, 1 August 2008.

For more information and to reserve space contact Patience on +27 (0)21 422 1800 or . Upon registration, learners will receive an email with a map and the finer details.
