CDF's best ads for April 2003

The best ads that appeared in April, as voted by the Creative Directors Forum.

Comments by Alistair King (Chairperson) for April 2003 judging:

Probably the shortest Ad of Month ever? Probably the poorest in overall standard as well. The winners, however, were excellent in the print media categories. Some Agencies were obviously shrewd by holding their Loerie entries over to the month after the Loerie rush – and it paid off.

Harley Davidson is cracker and won easily in Newspaper, with a very deserving high score. Debate overturned 2nd and 3rd places.

The very interactive POWA Magazine ad was also a clear winner. It's good to see an interactive devise work so well in demonstrating the proposition of the Ad.

The standard was high in Outdoor. Anyone of the top 3 winners could have won with a different panel, but at the end of the day, we had tie winners with Total and Bic.

Shees, what can I say about Radio? Brings tears to my eyes. True Love won with a very nice idea, but a low mark. The sentiment was that even that ad could have been produced better. The rest of the spots were embarrassingly bad.

TV unfortunately was not much better. Cell C "Kung Fu" won, but no real rave reviews from any of the judges.

Herewith the results of the judging of the April 2003 entries. Congratulations to all concerned.
