South Africa's D&AD nominees
A 'Yellow Pencil', the equivalent of a Silver Award, is a piece of work or campaign that is a true marker for creative excellence, while the 'Black Pencil', the Gold Award, is for a piece of work or campaign that is truly ground-breaking - the kind of work that can redefine a medium. 'In Book' is for work that is included in The D&AD Annual 2006 as a record of the best work of the year; this work has not won an award, but deserves recognition.

The 292-strong international jury selected 715 entries for The D&AD Annual 2007 – a record of the best creative work of the year – and 151 have been nominated for the highly revered D&AD Yellow Pencil.
“Our judges got through an incredible amount of work in a very short time. Despite the enormity of this task, our judges were meticulous in evaluating absolutely everything. They upheld D&AD’s tough creative standards throughout,” says Paula Taylor, D&AD Awards director
“It is this combination of passion and rigour that lifts D&AD Awards above others. And now, we’re delighted to reveal and to celebrate the best creative work of the year from around the world.”
Viral (with 16 nominations), followed by Online Advertising (15), TV & Cinema Crafts (15), TV & Cinema Advertising (14), and Graphic Design (11) have the most nominations out of the 29 categories.
TBWA\Chiat\Day New York is the most nominated agency. US brands Skittles and Combos, and UK charity The Prince’s Trust were judges’ favourites, with four nominations each.
Nominations will be showcased online from end of April at www.dandad.org/awards2007 and at Old Billingsgate, London, during Congress Week Two (21 - 24 May).
