In partnership with the Embassy of the Netherlands, the University of Kwazulu-Natal's (UKZN) Centre for Creative Arts will present the inaugural Artfluence Human Rights Arts Festival from Wednesday, 5 May to Saturday, 8 May 2021. The festival will be held online and focus on arts, constitution and democracy.
The Suidoosterfees will stage several productions at the Artscape in Cape Town from 26 April to 2 May 2021. Strict Covid-19 protocols are in place and theatregoers will be able to enjoy shows in a safe environment.
The South Gauteng High Court in Johannesburg has ordered that the National Arts Council (NAC) pay the National Arts Festival R3.4m of its original R8m grant within 72 hours. The balance will form part of further legal action that the court ordered should be expedited.

The National Arts Council says R68.4 million has been paid to 512 beneficiaries as part of Covid-19 relief. The steps outside the Artscape Theatre in Cape Town were a hive of activity on Saturday, with about 50 artists, musicians, dancers and puppeteers performing as part of ongoing protests.
