Located within a 10,000-hectare rewilded Big Five conservancy, Kuganha features 10 private tented suites, each measuring a minimum of 320 square metres. The property says these are the largest one-bedroom private tented safari suites in Africa.

Kuganha was recently recognised by Robb Report as one of the 50 greatest luxury hotels in the world for 2026.

Private wellness in every suite

Kuganha's concept places private wellness facilities within each guest's tented suite, with a range of experiences, facilities and equipment available 24 hours a day.

Each suite includes a sauna, steam room, Himalayan salt oxygen halotherapy room, flotation deprivation pod, ice plunge bath, jacuzzi plunge pool, double massage beds and massage facilities.

An introductory wellness journey forms part of the Kuganha experience, introducing guests to the safe use and operation of the private in-suite wellness facilities.

The concept was developed from more than 25 years of hosting high-net-worth travellers, celebrities, sports stars and diplomats visiting Cape Town. Kuganha says this experience highlighted demand for greater privacy, exclusivity, convenience, quality, tranquillity and in-suite service.

Its wellness philosophy is centred on the idea that "The spa must rewild your soul. The food must rewild your body. The wellness must rewild your mind."

Wellness-led dining

The culinary experience has been designed to restore and replenish, with options that can be customised around each guest's personal wellness, reset and rewild journey.

Kuganha says guests can expect fine cuisine using fresh, organic, sustainable and locally sourced produce.

Dining is available either in the privacy of the tented suites or at the Kuganha restaurant, which overlooks the infinity pool and waterhole.

The restaurant also offers views across the Karoo landscapes, mountain ranges, safari wildlife and night skies.

Rewilding the Western Cape

The 10,000-hectare conservancy on which Kuganha is located has undergone extensive rewilding, including the rehabilitation of large areas of rare and indigenous vegetation.

The Big Five and other safari wildlife have also been reintroduced to the area after many species had been hunted out of the region more than 270 years ago.

The conservation and rewilding work has received international recognition for its contribution to conservation, social upliftment and sustainable tourism.

Kuganha now applies the same rewilding philosophy to its guest experience, combining wellness, culinary and safari experiences to help guests reset and rewild their mind, body and soul from urban and global stressors, pollution, social media and the pressures of modern life.

A private luxury safari experience

The 10 tented suites are designed around privacy, with wellness, culinary and hospitality experiences available within the guest's own space and at their individual rhythm and pace.

Kuganha's approach combines private in-suite wellness, culinary experiences, Big Five safari wildlife, conservation and ultra-luxury tented accommodation.

Located less than 2.5 hours from Cape Town, the property brings this combination of experiences to the Western Cape's malaria-free setting.

With its opening, Kuganha is positioning its offering around what it describes as a new wellness safari category, combining the property's rewilding philosophy with private wellness, safari and luxury hospitality.
