South African National Parks (SanParks) said the closure would allow essential maintenance and repairs to be carried out on the gate's roof structure.

During this period, visitors will access the camp via Hippo Circle Street, the road leading to Skukuza Medical Doctor/Surgery, through AM Spa and Skukuza Safari Lodge.

Visitors are advised to follow directional signage and instructions from park staff to ensure the safe and efficient movement of vehicles and pedestrians.

SanParks said the work forms part of its ongoing infrastructure management programme to maintain the safety, functionality and longevity of facilities in the Kruger National Park.

The project is expected to be completed by 4 December 2026, subject to weather conditions and other unforeseen circumstances. SANParks apologised for any inconvenience caused by the temporary closure and thanked visitors, tourism partners and staff for their patience and cooperation.
