For audiences looking for something beyond the usual cinema release, outdoor adventure is taking centre stage this month. The Banff Mountain Film Festival World Tour brings stories of sport, culture and the natural world to South African screens in a 90-minute programme.
Banff Mountain Film Festival lands at Ster-Kinekor

Ster-Kinekor will screen a selection of films from the Banff Mountain Film Festival World Tour at selected cinemas from 30 October to 1 November 2026.

The programme brings together six short documentaries covering skiing, climbing, cycling, skateboarding and cultural stories, offering local audiences a snapshot of the international festival.

Six stories of adventure and determination

The 90-minute programme features:

  • Cold Calls – Canada: A ski film pieced together through conversations, memories and the unpredictability of the season.
  • The Book of George: Photographer George McKenzie Jr. uses his camera to promote conservation and inspire young people.
  • Dissidence: Twin Indonesian climbers Ravianto and Raviandi Ramadhan pursue their ambitions on the international climbing stage.
  • Jaunt: Justice finds an escape from the pressures of office life through a daily cycling ritual.
  • Black Eyes: Set in Mongolia’s Altai Mountains, the film follows 13-year-old Kharakoz as she learns the traditional art of eagle-hunting.
  • Flow Vision: Downhill skateboarder Ambroise tackles one of Europe’s most challenging roads in pursuit of the elusive flow state.

The international festival receives hundreds of film submissions each year, selecting approximately 80 to 85 finalists for screenings in Banff, Canada. The World Tour brings a condensed selection of those stories to audiences around the globe.
