Wikileaks media frenzy

It's almost the end of the year but news sure ain't slowing down! Yesterday, Sunday, 28 November 2010 (last night in South Africa), the latest set of controlled Wikileaks 'leaks' hit the media (both traditional and social), resulting in a massive media frenzy, diplomatic uproar and much debate over secrecy and ethics. The long-term effects are going to be very, very interesting, let alone the short- to medium-term results.

In the meantime, the deadline for suggestions on how the press ombudsman can work more effectively has been extended until February 2011.

The Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) of South Africa has upheld complaints against morrisjones&co's "What the F...?" campaign for the Debonairs frikkadel pizza and has ordered that the TV ad in its current format be withdrawn immediately and that it may not be used again in its current format. Is the ASA being too much of a Mother Grundy?

And have you heard about Nando's new CEO (chicken excellence officer)...? Are Nando's and Cell C in cahoots over this latest development?

Keep on laughing!
