Winning shopping centres

The South African Council of Shopping Centres' (SACSC), has announced the winners of its annual retail centre awards, the Spectrum Awards for 2010, in the four categories - Retail Design Development, National Retailer of the Year, Shopping Centre Marketing Excellence and National Service Provider of the Year.

"Spectrum Award winners are powerful examples of excellence in our industry. They represent an inspiring blend of brilliance, performance, dedication and innovation," says Greg Azzopardi, President SACSC. "Nominees again constituted a group of retailers, professionals and service providers that reflect the quality and innovation that is inherent in the South African retail industry."

Winning's in the detail


  • Retail Design Development Award recognises exceptional shopping centre design, combined with economic success, within the South African property industry and Nedbank Corporate Property Finance was the principal sponsor in 2010. The Morningside Shopping Centre's win delighted the centre's architects, MDS Architects and developers, Grapnel Property Group (Pty) Ltd and Flanagan & Gerard Property Development and Investment.
  • National Retailer of the Year Award 2010, in honour of an exceptional level of service, was handed to Bliss Hair & Skincare of 9th Avenue Shopping Centre in the Eastern Cape.
  • The Spectrum Shopping Centre Marketing Excellence Award 2010 went to Cavendish Square's Football, Fashion, Fine Art Winter marketing campaign, by Primedia Lifestyle.
  • Spectrum National Service Provider of the Year Award went to Bidvest Magnum Shield for its services at client, Melrose Arch.
