Zoli Daweti (Design Initiatives, MD) fired for poor performance

Deliver the goods - or get the sack. That is the blunt message the board of Design Initiatives has sent out. The call for action has been in the wake of the recent decision of the board to terminate the services of Zoli Daweti, in his capacity of Managing Director.

The board had given Daweti ample warning and time to perform - he simply failed to perform his duties.

There will no longer be employees that remain as a 'contractual obligations'. It could not be argued that the buck should stop with Daweti, as Managing Director of Design Initiatives, and someone had to take responsibility for the stagnant sales figures, unsatisfactory service delivery and the less than stellar innovation levels.

This is a company with massive underutilised resources and potential of being a market leader in its core business, namely Outdoor Advertising.

NEW VISION, NEW LEADERSHIP

The Design Initiatives board announced that Daweti's directorship was terminated with immediate effect to allow for the staggering of appointments of new directors and executive management within the company.

The uncontested dismissal came amid allegations of inability to strategically align the company with the new vision of the board.

The replacement of executive management and directors who have failed to perform over a long period is essentially a good thing - it is ultimately in the best interest of the company and its clients.

The exit process is a matter that has been handled with extreme cautionary measurement methods and steps, so as to minimise any negative impact on the company, that will include Daweti conducting a 'hand-over' to his replacement within the forthcoming months.
