Lekobane Diako
Survey Statistician (Social Statistics) at Statistics South Africa (Stats SA), I had the privilege of working with the University of South Africa during the 2014 National and Local Government Elections as an Election Observer. I also had the honour of being in the first group of the YALI program held in November December 2015 by the USAID under the Public Governance Track.
I believe that through the more than 10 years' experience of being in the public sector particularly that currently I am within the Social Statistics Division of Statistics South Africa as a Survey Statistician will add as an advantage. Through this I have to develop reports at the end of surveys, and prior any social surveys that we undertake, I am engaged at stakeholder consultation, doing research on what has to be added in new survey instruments, and also writing training manuals for survey officers/field workers. The monitoring and evaluation of data collected by survey officers is done on a continuation basis, which is vital for any data to be analysed and disseminated, which I am also involved.
I am currently doing my Honours degree in development studies at the University of Pretoria, my interest field of research is policy implementation, I am looking at failures and lack of policy implementation on how it affects a country negatively, particularly in the context of South Africa and Africa as a whole in tackling poverty, unemployment and inequality. I have a BA: Government, Administration & Development with UNISA, which I obtained 68% average. I'm also doing my second undergraduate degree at UNISA, which is Policy Studies.

Most importantly, I am a team player having acquired the ability to pay strong attention to detail. I possess both the confidence and skills required to represent my division and organisation when required. I would like to thank you for reviewing and considering my application, and look forward to having a successful interview with you soon.
