The Loeries 2025 in-person jury judging session took place on Monday and Tuesday, 6 and 7 October, in Cape Town. VML Birdwatching at the Loeries with Bizcommunity caught up with some of the jury presidents to glean some of the highlights of the entries and what constitutes a winning entry.
Episode 3 is the Energy Episode with special guests Kagiso Tshepe, executive creative director at Grid Worldwide, Roanna Williams, chief creative officer and co-founder of Boundless, Fran Luckin, chief creative officer of VML, Preetesh Sewraj, CEO of The Loeries and Brandon Govender, digital & integrated executive creative director at Joe Public.
Birdwatching at The Loeries Episode 2 is the Emotion Episode and features special guests Neo Segola, head of creative at Le Pub, part of the Publicis Group, Sharleen James, chair of the ACA and marketing practice lead at Accenture Song, Tebogo Skwambane, WPP country manager, Terry McKenna, executive creative director of The Odd Number and rounding it off Carl Willoughby, chief creative officer of TBWA / Hunt Lascaris.
Birdwatching at The Loeries Episode 1 focuses on that five percent difference, with special guests Wayne Naidoo, CEO of the Duke Group, Marc Algranti from Algranti Music and Nkanyezi Masango, chief creative officer from Dentsu Creative.
The Loeries Creative Week in 2021 brought together the brand communications industry across Africa and the Middle East after the Loeries Virtual Creative Week in 2021.
The Loeries concluded the 2020 awards with Film, Film Craft, Grand Prix, Brand of the Year, Agency of the Year award, Regional Agency Group of the Year awards. Throughout Loeries Creative Week, a total 264 Loeries were awarded across 16 categories, including five Grands Prix, 28 Golds, 63 Silvers, 110 Bronzes, 14 Craft Golds and 44 Craft Certificates.

The Loeries Creative Week resumed the 2020 awards on 19 November 2020 by honouring Design, Design Crafts, Live Communication, Live Crats, PR and Media Communication, and Marketing Leadership and Innovation Award.

On the third day of the 2020 awards, the Loeries awarded the Radio Audio, Radio Crafts as well as the student awards in partnership with Facebook. This student award category is for tertiary students across Africa and the Middle East to provide work showcasing electronic and physical media content.

Instagram's 10th birthday celebration and Facebook's talk "Diversity and Inclusion: Real Talk with Moose" were among the main highlights of Tuesday 17th November, together with Howler's "Data Inspires Creativity" talk at Loeries Creative Week 2020. Other sessions included thought-provoking topics and confronted important issues of misrepresentation, transformation, diversity, and gender disparity impacting the brand communication industry.
The Loeries awarded winners in the Digital Communication category as well as Media Innovation and the Brand South Africa Young Creative Award on the second day.
