SA goes to the movies in winter

Despite expectations, South African cinemas did not experience the dip in cinema attendances during the 2010 FIFA World Cup that other host countries have experienced, Ster-Kinekor reports. Although the record for the highest ever attendance in one day stays intact, the attendance figures for June 2010 were distinctly higher than previous years. This could be from the influx of foreign visitors, extra long school holidays, 3D kid's movies, holiday packages and the screening of world cup matches in 3D.
